Coney Island Carousel

June 5, 2011

I’m a huge fan of old-fashioned carousels. The divine artwork, vibrant colours and the sense of whimsy and wonder. This was often mixed with a touch of the macabre. Childhood was not all sweetness and light in days gone by.

At Coney Island, back in 2008, I was thrilled to be able to photograph this one, and something tonight reminded me of the photos. They were taken with an old Vivitar point-and-shoot. About 3 megapixels, I believe. I ran them through Lightroom3 to process them with a new eye, and here they are.

Enjoy!
